about Michael

Michael is an experienced educational leader with a demonstrated history of working in the primary, secondary and adult sectors for over 20 years. He is skilled in coaching, digital technology and teaching in the Performing Arts.

Michael is currently the Deputy Principal at John Paul College in Frankston, Victoria, Australia.

about the role

The Deputy Principal Learning and Teaching is a senior leadership position that is responsible for ensuring the provision of innovative, evidence-based, and engaging teaching and learning programs that meet the individual needs of students across all levels. As a senior leader, the Deputy Principal is responsible for bringing the mission of the Catholic church to life in the College and oversees the work of several learning and teaching roles within the College.

Michael is a regular presenter at educational conferences including EduTech, Educational Data Talks, NESLI Australia, Drama Australia and internal professional learning sessions.

Previous to his current role, Michael has held a range of significant positions of leadership in the areas of College and Community Engagement, Head of Learning, Head of Co-Curriculum, Head of Productions and Head of Debating and Public Speaking.

Michael holds a Masters in Education, Diploma of Education and Bachelor of Arts.

Michael also spent 6 years as an educational consultant writing curriculum for schools. He has also spent 4 years teaching arts in a Primary School along with working in adult education.

outside education

Outside of education Michael is an advanced AFL umpires’ coach and spent 7 years as a senior coach of a community umpiring group. He sits on the Parish Education Board for St. Thomas the Apostle, North Greensborough.
